Janie Oberhauser
Janie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021 with degrees in Biology and English and Comparative Literature. She then worked in the Cobos Lab at Stanford University for two years, analyzing the changes in gene and protein expression that accompany Alzheimer’s disease progression. In the fall of 2023, Janie started her next scientific adventure as a Neuroscience PhD student at UC San Francisco. Outside the lab, she enjoys swimming, writing, and exploring new foods and places. Her passion for scientific communication and promoting inclusion in STEM drove her to start this blog in Spring 2023.
Abigail Hall
Abigail graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021 with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She was accepted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center PhD program for Immunology, Pathology, and Infectious Disease. This fall will mark her fourth year working as a graduate student researcher investigating the bacterial metabolism of Staphylococcus aureus. Outside the lab, she enjoys biking, playing volleyball, and investigating Omaha’s many restaurants. Her enthusiasm for scientific outreach and desire to promote inclusion in STEM inspired her to join this project in Spring 2023.
